AMALGAMATIONS

While I have collected antique objects and gadgets for years, moving to Vienna and traveling through Europe enticed me with the many hand-crafted antique tools and interesting artifacts. Almost calling this body of work ‘NASCH-ART” (Wiener Naschmarkt Art), I spent many Saturday’s wandering the isles of the second hand market in search of objects of inspiration. Not quite ‘Reconstructions’ (Rudolf Polanszky) or ‘Combines’ (Robert Rauschenberg), I titled my assemblage series of work ‘AMALGAMATIONS, The Amalgamations are combinations of carvings, clay sculptures, objects found or purchased, unified with collage/paint/was and supported on canvas, paper, wood panel or cardboard. They reflect events, dilemmas, concerns that deserve attention, conversation, collaborative problem solving or just plain celebration.
